For a summer weather, nothing is better than a glass of Blueberry Milkshake!
Here’s the ingredients for you:
- A good handful of blueberries
- An apple diced into small pieces
- Vanilla extract or syrups
- One piece of crystal ginger
- A small cup of milk
All set! Pour into blender for 2 minutes, here’s your lovely blueberry milkshake for the summer!
The possible benefit of blueberries are below, according to Medical News Today (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com)
1) Maintaining healthy bones
The iron, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and vitamin K in blueberries all contribute to building and maintaining bone structure and strength.
Iron and zinc play crucial roles in maintaining the strength and elasticity of bones and joints. Low intakes of vitamin K have been associated with a higher risk for bone fracture, while adequate vitamin K intakes improve calcium absorption and may reduce calcium loss.
2) Lowering blood pressure
Maintaining a low sodium intake is essential to lowering blood pressure. Blueberries are naturally free of sodium and contain potassium, calcium, and magnesium, all of which have been found to decrease blood pressure naturally.
3) Managing diabetes
Studies have shown that type 1 diabetics who consume high-fiber diets have lower blood glucose levels and type 2 diabetics may have improved blood sugar, lipids and insulin levels. One cup of blueberries contributes 3.6 grams of fiber.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends 21-25 grams of fiber per day for women and 30-38 grams per day for men.
My Guilty Confession
While enjoying the healthy milkshake, you have to listen to me confessing about a crazy June weekend I had with my friends. Friday and Saturday 2 days in a row, I’ve had great times with my dear friends. Remember:
Happy life = healthy diet + friendship!
Friday
7pm
Chinese restaurant – a lovely banquet with friends and nothing beats a shredded beef and a deep fry and roasted duck dish!
9pm
Meal time is done, moving upstairs to do our Karaoke singing! The benefit of having a function room to ourselves, is no one gets annoyed with our loud noises! The bunch of silly friends – we had great fun! Never mind out of tune, relax and let out anything you feel like through your voice – singing/screaming/shouting and laughing, that’s what s good night with friends was about!
12pm
Singing still on, beer brings out more spirit! Really not feel love like leaving, the time spent with friends are so precious! But have to get home as next day the party spirit is still on!
Next morning
8am
Got up and ready – after settling kids I went to train station for our mum group Manchester trip! 6 mums happily set off and we have a birthday scheme to celebrate! Despite the plan of setting off early, we had a revision of plan, so train to Manchester is around 1.30. Happy train journey and very tasteful Morrison’s sparkling wine between us all!
2pm
Banyan Tree Bar offers the best cocktail lunch in Manchester – definitely, at least I think so, wouldn’t you – looking at the colour of my cocktail! I had the most delicious dishes in town as well. But time to move on again…
4.30pm
One of the coolest bar in town – Alchemist! Look at these lovely cocktail drinks, one of them even has steam coming out of it! It was still a hot subject while we were on the train home…
Hope you enjoy your summer too!
